LPACN's first official event, the Chinese LP Roundtable Discussion was held at the Park Hyatt in Beijing on April 2, 2009.22 members attended and 4 were participated via conference call.
The objective of the event was to provide a forum for the founding members of LPACN to have open and frank discussions with their counterparts (international and domestic), to exchange views, express their concerns and find ways to improve investment environment in China.
One topic was brought up on the emergence of RMB funds, and how both domestic and foreign LPs can work together to address the potential conflicts on the GP side. It was concluded that LPACN should try to have a dialogue with various government regulatory bodies such as NDRC, SAFE, MOC, and CSRC to understand whether this is a viable option. It was agreed that the trip should coincide with the next LPACN event - LP Summit in Beijing in early July.
One local LP shared that government is also actively trying to find ways to improve the investment environment in China. Beijing Zhongguanchun area was selected as a special experimental zone and the management company of that zone is encouraged to propose innovative products / services that can help promote the development of SMEs.
Due to the discussion, LPACN will organise a visit to various government agencies to initiate discussions on relevant issues. This is likely to take place in conjunction with the LP Summit in Beijing in early July.
